  Course Title:  DDI - Valuing Differences
Course Description Today, the organizations with the greatest competitive advantage are those that can create an inclusive environment that makes the most of their people's diverse experiences, ideas and talents.

Valuing Differences gives people effective skills and tools for exploring others' unique perspectives, understanding and leveraging people's inherent differences, challenging devaluing behavior, and creating an environment in which people’s differences are respected and utilized.

Note: This is not a traditional diversity course as it does not focus on race, gender or age issues. Rather, it explores the general differences that exist among all of us (e.g., styles, viewpoints, abilities, approaches, etc.) and how these differences can be utilized for improved performance and outcomes.
Learning Objectives This course helps participants to:
1. Contribute their unique styles, abilities, and motivations to ensure the success of their work group and organization.
2. Encourage others to contribute their unique styles, abilities, and motivations.
3. Work more collaboratively and productively with people who have a variety of styles, abilities, and motivations.
4. Leverage the talents of their coworkers to achieve better results.
5. Contribute to a climate in which people’s differences are respected and utilized.
Who Should Attend: This course is designed for all State of Michigan employees who are interested in developing skills in diversity.

Participant Information: Civil Service staff will facilitate the training.
